Shift Supervisor:


Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Supervises production processes in order to obtain the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices.
  2. Maintain operation at or better then budgeted targets (examples may include: labor, shrink, yield, costs, reworks, Safety)
  3. Ability to supervise, evaluate and develop employees. Has a key role in hiring and terminating said employees.
  4. Fosters a safe work environment for all personnel. Addresses safety related issues and improvements.
  5. Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operation. Involved in continuous improvements plans.
  6. Requests and directs services of maintenance, sanitation and other personnel as may be necessary to achieve the desired level and quality of production, sanitation, safety and warehouse services.
  7. Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
  8. Is responsible for all departmental costs and expenses.
  9. Keeps accurate and up-to-date records (i.e. timecards, downtime records, absenteeism records, etc.)
  10. Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
  11. Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
  12. Keeps manager informed on operation activities, employee activities, quality, safety and cost controls.
  13. Maintains consistent and thorough communications.
  14. Performs all other duties of similar nature or level as requested by management.
  15. Performs employee evaluations in a timely and consistent manner.
  16. Develop and foster team building and facilitate meeting and groups as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or a related field or four-years experience in a food processing or similar environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
  2. Knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations.
  3. Able to lead, train and motivate department personnel.
  4. Supervisory skills and knowledge of production equipment.
  5. Must be able to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve them.
  6. Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and SAP.
  7. Must be able to work overtime, weekends or on other shifts when necessary.
  8. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and teaming skills.
  9. Fluency in English. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
