IT Systems Administrator Unix/SAP:


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Configure, maintain and monitor IBM pSeries UNIX based hardware and software and assist in problem resolution based on alerts and system generated errors in Production and Development environments.
  2. 7x24 operational support of IBM pSeries UNIX systems and occasional after hours and weekend on-call duty. Position will have a rotating responsibility for the UNIX on-call cell phone for after hours support.
  3. Configure, maintain and monitor enterprise wide Tivoli Storage Management (TSM) implementation to ensure consistent and secure backups across Production and Development environments.
  4. Provisioning of enterprise class SAN infrastructure to support infrastructure servers and services.
  5. Support SAP Basis focused team resources with SAP printing, patches and upgrades.
  6. Administration of DNS, NIS, NFS and NIM (Network Installation Manager) subsystems.
  7. Administration of Common Unix Print System (CUPS)
  8. Administration of SUSE Linux peripheral infrastructure systems
  9. Provide Security and access privileges to data and applications.
  10. Testing, implementation and understanding of new patches and security updates.
  11. Troubleshoot and document problems in an effective and timely manner.
  12. Prioritize work load based on the severity of issue and customer need.
  13. Record, track and document issues from initiation through resolution and keep internal management and internal customers updated throughout the process.
  14. Ensure consistency of tools, standards, security and metrics and follow documented Production Change Request process.
  15. This position will be supporting business and IT applications as well as operational support, problem determination and resolution, and general support of the application and programming groups. The Applications include but are not limited to: SAP, EDI, AFS, and i2 Transportation Management.
  16. Adherence to company polices and procedures.
  17. Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Two year technical degree in a related field and four or more years related work experience or equivalent combination required.
  2. Three or more years experience with IBM pSeries p5 and p6 hardware.
  3. Three or more years experience with IBM AIX 5.3 and 6.1 operating systems.
  4. Two or more years experience with IBM LPAR and PowerVM (Virtualization and Mobility) technologies.
  5. Two or more years experience with SAN technologies
  6. Experience with CUPS, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, NIS, Sendmail and NFS.
  7. Proven problem solving, and interpersonal skills required.
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  9. Ability to work independently.
  10. Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  11. Demonstrated deep technical knowledge.
  12. Experience with SAP (R/3, B/W, APO, and TRM), Oracle, I2, or EDI a plus.
  13. Experience with Linux a plus
  14. IBM Certification a plus.
  15. General knowledge of Data Center environmentals including generator, transfer switch, UPS, air conditioners, and monitoring of these systems a plus.
