Electrical Technician:


Overview:
    Northern Star Company is the leading producer of high quality refrigerated potato products. In the process of producing refrigerated potato products, a maintenance employee in the role of an Electrical Technician is necessary to ensure the proper performance of the equipment.
General Summary:
    The (Production Equipment Technician or Electrical PLC Technician) performs duties under the general direction of the Engineering or Maintenance Supervisor, but works independently to perform installation, programming (PLC, SCADA), monitoring, maintenance, repair, and/or modification of electromechanical systems. The (Production Equipment Technician or Electrical PLC Technician) ensures reliable operation of electromechanical systems through out the facility including production and plant support equipment by performing the following duties.
Principal Accountabilities:
  1. Adhere to all safety programs and policies (Arc Flash/LOTO).
  2. Day to day troubleshooting, PLC programming/modification, repair and installation of low and high voltage (AC/DC single/three phase) industrial electromechanical and control systems for utility and production equipment.
  3. Experience with TPM, OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) and Lean Manufacturing a PLUS.
  4. Responsible for documenting existing and new equipment, control and power system installation.
  5. Standardize all electromechanical controls to (Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE etc…) components as practical.
  6. Assists in the development, implementation, repair, and maintenance of the plant's instrumentation, control and electromechanical systems to attain World Class performance.
  7. Perform system start-ups and operational checkouts on systems including configuration, wiring, calibration, grounding and power testing.
  8. Provide assistance to mechanical installations as directed
  9. Experience using a PC based system in a Network Environment (Profibus, Devicenet, Ethernet, Data Highway, HART Communicator, etc) (INSQL Data Historian) (Downtime Analysis Tool).
  10. Provide hardware and software application support assistance to engineers and operations.
  11. Specify, help organize and help maintain adequate spare parts and modules for control and instrumentation systems.
  12. Utilize technical materials such as equipment manuals, MSDS, safety materials, system drawings, Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and blueprints to troubleshoot and maintain systems.
  13. Participate in cross functional process improvement teams to drive plant performance through improved processes and system performance.
  14. Participate in the creation and implementation of a training program for maintenance mechanics and operations employees around the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of integrated controls and information systems.
  15. Maintain plant documentation in accordance with management of change procedures.
  16. Other Duties as assigned.
Job Specifications:
  1. Minimum education requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Education Preferred: Associates or higher degree in Engineering
  3. Experience: Minimum four years
Pay rate is determined by qualifications and experience.
