Strategic Sourcing Analyst:
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for a variety of sourcing-related activities, including the analysis, review, and reporting of key metrics and performance indicators within the Purchasing and Supply Management functions. This position supports senior purchasing personnel with market research, collect, and analyze data for effective sourcing decisions and assists in the development of process improvement to maximize supply relationship value while maintaining or improving quality and service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide analytical support during the development of category-specific strategies and tactics that minimize the total-cost-of-ownership for all outside purchases while maximizing customer service levels.
- Conduct market, industry, and supplier research that supports key sourcing initiatives.
- Perform procurement cost analysis for new and existing products while analyzing supplier proposals utilizing a total cost model.
- Assist the Corporate Purchasing group in the development and determination of ownership and lifecycle costs for major spend categories, including cost targets, goals, and sourcing strategy recommendations.
- Analyze current lead times of major suppliers and provide information to assist in lead-time reduction strategies and programs.
- Assist in the development, implementation and reengineering of purchasing workflow as appropriate.
- Develop Requests for Information or Proposals; set up online reverse and forward auctions; receive, organize, and analyze supplier proposals for sourcing events.
- Develop detailed commodity profiles and provide recommendations based on the analysis performed, track and report against their spot and futures pricing levels.
- Assist the Corporate Purchasing group in the development of key reporting metrics and performance indicators and the capability to track them.
- Conduct, lead, and review benchmarking activities and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain a conceptual knowledge of hedging and price / risk management, and assist in the management of a hedging/risk management model as appropriate.
- Establish and communicate a catalog of contracts that all MFI operating companies can access.
- Own purchasing related data maintenance within SAP.
- Assist in the ongoing development and implementation of the SAP Purchasing module consistent with the pursuit of best practices.
- Prepare presentations for business review meetings with major suppliers.
- Other activities as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Must possess strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Proficiency in MS office, with advanced abilities in Excel
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the corporation
- A bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
Desired
- 3-5 years of purchasing / supply management experience
- Experience in conducting supplier financial research
- Experience in supplier measurement and evaluation
- SAP Purchasing / Inventory Control working knowledge
- Professional certification (APICS or ISM)
